When You Have Nothing To Say

It is better to remain silent, I’m sure. I can’t do that since today would be my second Silent Monday and I don’t want to set a bad precedent.

I really have nothing to say. I’ve participated in NanoWrimo this month in a minimal way in that I’ve written between 150 and 200 words every day. Those of you who have written thousands of words every day, feel free to scoff. I’m dealing with my third or fourth consecutive month of poor health, and I have no more energy for writing than the occasional blog post and 200 daily words will cover.

What about you? If you check in today, please let me know how you’re doing. Not (just) about how your Nano project has gone, or how your agent search is going (though I’m interested). I’m interested in how YOU are.

    I'm fine, Victoria. I'm sorry to hear things are dragging along and I hope you are feeling better soon.

    I had a good writing weekend and after a month of being unable to write, or focus, it feels good to be back at it.

    Also, I think it's so sweet that you are asking not about our writing, but about us. I think we often lose focus on that…

    And I think it's fine if you don't really have anything to say – we can just 'blog talk'. That's just as nice. ๐Ÿ™‚

    Lots of Nanowrimo going on here. We are coming in under goal… but everyone is writing every day! Maddie was at 10,ooo words today. Not bad for a 10 year old. I think Troy's mom said she was just over 25,ooo words. Setting your own goal to do your personal best is a very positive thing.

    So snowed under by other stuff, that NaNo came and went without me. At least I have my health. Hope yours gets better soon.

    On the bright side, it's spring here in NZ and it's so nice to spend my days with the windows open and the birds singing!

    Wow, it's so heartening just to hear from you all! It does feel good to know you're back at the desk/laptop/notepad after so long, doesn't it, Debra?

    Yeah, I feel like we all focus like "sharks with freakin' laser beams on our heads" on our writing. LOL Even on our blogs, we're all about writing, but this is a SOCIAL medium. Maybe sometimes it needs to be about us.

    Mary, I am SO proud of Maddie (and your mother-in-law!) the words counts are something to be proud of. I read recently where you have to put in 10,000 hours before you can approach professional quality in any medium. It seems to me that Maddie could be a professional author before she graduates college if she keeps going. Does she let anyone read what she writes?

    Vicky, I wish I was there with you! Spring sounds awesome right now.

    Thanks for the kind words, Rachna and Janet! Really, I can't express how good it makes me feel just to know I have friends out there who thought enough to drop a note. Now if I could just breathe, I'd be doing great. LOL

    I've had two years of this up and down health thing. They've decided it's IBS which is just something that happens to some people and you treat the worst of the symptoms and live with. I keep hoping we find a 'real reason' that is solve-able and can take me back to feeling healthy again, so I can really understand. Hoping yours is fix-able and you have a getting-better time in the near future.

    Congrats on any writin–regardless of word count. Every word we put to paper is worthwhile and a reason to celebrate.

    I was sick a month before NaNo and could barely write a word. I was happy with 50 words! I think if we keep striving it's all good.

    I'm hoping to finish my NaNo book (first draft) by the end of next week and then I'm looking forward to a mini break. I need to go outside!!!

    Thanks for dropping by! I remember you were looking into the Celiac's diet, Clothdragon. In a way, I'm sorry that didn't work out. It's easy to self-diagnose and as diseases go, easy to treat. IBS isn't so kind. I guess the good news is, it's not Crohn's. I do hope they discover what's behind it all! Dealing with constant sickness wears you out. My problem is just coping with chronic sinusitis and infection. I've had the latest one since June or July. Sigh.

    Lynda, I miss my writing date walks! I have to admit, though, I'm paranoid about the great outside. I know I'm reacting as much to my house as to the great outdoors, but at least I have some control over what's in my house. LOL Not that I take enough advantage of that control. That's part of my problem. Who wants to clean when characters and stories need help?
